I am engaged in navigational duties on board the “TANSA”. During the voyage, due to the special environment at sea, we need to troubleshoot the equipment we are in charge of by ourselves as much as possible. In addition, since most of the equipment used is special and made overseas, we request support from overseas vendors by e-mail or phone as needed. In the process, we learn new things, and each time we learn something new, we feel that we are growing.

This job, taken seriously, satisfies both intellectual curiosity and ambition. Naturally, cooperation with other departments is essential to the work on board. I cherish the sense of accomplishment I feel when I am able to safely and efficiently carry out difficult tasks as “one team” while involving others and sometimes being involved in the process. Furthermore, since I am always working together with people from other countries, I am able to actively exchange opinions in English and learn about the differences in cultures and ways of thinking.

I am engaged in seismic data processing. Data processing requires a different approach each time, and it is necessary to select appropriate processing methods and parameters considering the characteristics of each acquisition area. Selecting the appropriate processing methods and parameters requires various knowledge such as digital signal processing and underwater acoustics, as well as experience specific to this data processing. Therefore, we proceed with the processing by utilizing not only individual capabilities but also the knowledge and experience of the entire team. To create an environment where opinions can be freely exchanged, I always value communication within the team. Communication is important not only within the company but also with clients, and I believe that through close communication with clients, we can achieve imaging results that meet their needs.

The rewarding aspect of this job is that, with the advancement of processing technology, it is always necessary to continue acquiring new knowledge and skills, providing abundant opportunities for personal growth. Additionally, I find great fulfillment in the process of solving complex problems while collaborating with the team.
