About Ocean Geo-Frontier History of Establishment

Based on Third “Basic Plan on Ocean Policy” approved by the Cabinet in May 2018 and “Plan for the Development of Marine Energy and Mineral Resources” revised in February 2019, it was decided to conduct the Kiso Geophysical Exploration Project for oil and natural gas G8in the waters surrounding Japan from 2019 to 2028.

Based on the above, OGF was selected as a result of a public solicitation for a private company to take charge of such survey and operation services using the 3D seismic survey vessel “TANSA” procured and owned by JOGMEC. OGF will be responsible for the geophysical survey operations in the waters around Japan starting in 2019. In the future, OGF will not only conduct basic geophysical exploration services commissioned by JOGMEC, but will also consider geophysical exploration services commissioned by private companies in Japan and overseas.
