Ocean Geo-Frontier (OGF) was established in December 2018 by NYK Line, PGS Geophysical AS, and Hitachi, Ltd., and provides subsea geological information through the survey and operation of the 3D seismic survey vessel “TANSA”, owned by the Japan Organization for Metals and Energy Security (JOGMEC).

In undertaking geophysical exploration for oil and natural gas in the waters surrounding Japan from JOGMEC using “TANSA”, the three shareholder companies have created a system that brings together the technologies and experience they have accumulated in their respective fields of expertise, resulting in safe and efficient geophysical exploration and the provision of high-quality subsea geological information.

In the geophysical exploration industry, which is undergoing remarkable technological innovation, with the support of our shareholders, we are constantly attempting to apply state-of-the-art technology to further improve the quality of our results.

The subsea geological information provided by OGF is expected to be used not only for oil and natural gas geophysical surveys, but also for the development of suitable sites for CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) and for surveys of offshore wind power installation sites. In order to meet the needs of our customers, OGF will actively promote the provision of geophysical exploration services to domestic and overseas customers to contribute to the transition to carbon neutrality, energy transitions, and the development of new energy fields such as CCS and offshore wind power.
